The group was appointed through  Regulation No. 3 of 28 February 2007 of the Council for Counteracting Drug Addiction Chairman.

The tasks of the group are the following:

1. to monitor international initiatives and meetings on counteracting drug addiction;
2. to coordinate the actions of Polish bodies involved in international cooperation in the field of drug addiction;
3. to establish the Polish standpoint regarding foreign initiatives and projects on counteracting drug addiction.
4. to monitor the activities of Polish bodies involved in international cooperation from the point of view of complementarity and effectiveness;
5. to participate in developing drafts of legal acts on international cooperation in counteracting drug addiction.
